It was amazing to see the difference adding a new rug, artwork, window treatment, accessories, pillows, etc had in Vicki's upstairs. The yellow and gray really warmed the space and tied in beautifully with the brick blackspash in the adjoining kitchen.

New Wall Grouping
I spent last week helping Shaun redo her family picture wall. She bought the new shelf and wanted help refreshing her space. With lots of accessories from Rod Works, I went to work. I love how it turned out. I sprayed four of her existing frames cream to tie back into the shelf. It all ties back to family.
I changed up the clock wall by adding two framed fabric swatches. It brought such fun texture to the wall. All of the accessories on the sideboard, with the exception of the cream pitcher, came from other areas in the house. Shaun's dad worked for the phone company and had the old phones in a garage. They are such great pieces to display!
I added a new window treatment to the kitchen with the same colors from the family room. She loved the fabric, so I just whipped out the curtain:) She's so happy with the update, so that makes it a success.

Fun Find: Artwork
My mother-in-law got this great sectional last weekend in her basement. She called me and asked how she could decorate the room. I loved the colors in the geometric pillow and built the room around it. I headed to Ikea and found the great prints. The bright flower print was made for her room and at $50 was a steal. The other set of 3 was the perfect balance and was $50 for the set. I found the mirror and Hobby Lobby and only paid $50. I found the fabric at Hancock and made the coordinating pillows to add a bit more lightness to the room. She loves it and it really freshens up the basement. Again, Ikea didn't disappoint.

Decorating after Christmas
This year, we finally got our fireplace. I loved how it turned out with the built-ins and glass tiles. I also loved how it looked decorated for Christmas. So when it was time to take down Christmas and decorate it for every day, I had my work cut out for me.
Needless to say, I am so happy with how it turned out!
Here were my key expenditures: I bought the topiaries at Taipan this week with the 20% off one item coupon. Although they were expensive at $55 each, they were worth it as they will be up all year long. They are real dried boxwood and give great height next to the tv. The rest of the decor items came from Rod Works. I got the clock when they were doing the 12 days of Christmas and had 35% off. All of the other items totaled about $60. The ceramic bowl and balls in it were something I already had; I just moved their location. Don't be afraid to look around your house and repurpose an item elsewhere. I got all of the items over a two week period. I left the tags on, so that I could look at them for a while to make sure that I loved how it all came together. As I cut the tags off yesterday, I'm sure you know the answer.
