Maceys has a great price on pumpkins, $.19 per pound.  I found all mine there and love them.

They also have great bumpy ones.  Had to talk my kids into these.  Love Fall!!

New Porch for Fall

For my birthday Lisa and Kallee surprised me and redecorated my porch for fall!  It was such a great present!  I love how it turned out!

Lisa found the pillows at World Market...$10 each!  I love the design on the seat cushion.

And what better way to spruce up a pillow than with a fall pick!  Great touch!

I think the owl is my favorite...they found him at Hobby Lobby



I also love the acorn picks...also from Hobby Lobby along with the fall pick behind them. 



I loved their idea to buy a pick with a little more bulk and tie it to my wreath hanger...a new touch that I love!



Thank you to my two wonderful friends for the porch makeover...it desperately needed it and I am thrilled with it!

 I love to find home decor that works for multiple holidays and seasons.  Here's a few shots of my Thanksgiving table display...

I had been eying the pilgrims clear back in September but didn't want to pay $50 for them...I was thrilled to get the 50 percent off coupon and get both for $25!  

 We are determined to celebrate Thanksgiving this year!  Let it not be the forgotten holiday...except...

Rod Works is doing a Christmas open house this Monday through Saturday...stop in to receive 25-40 percent off one regularly priced Christmas item...just don't put it up until after Thanksgiving :)

Pottery Barn on a Budget

Lisa and I have flipped through the pages of Pottery Barn magazine for years admiring the beautifully laid out pages and hoping one day our homes would look just like it.  With disposable money it probably would...but we feel why spend the big bucks when it can look just as nice for much less!   

This is a picture of a table setting I really liked in their catalog...

Leaf plate...$10, dipping bowls...$6, set of four white dinner plates...$48, twig charger...$16, place mats...$8, for a grand total of $88 (which you times by four at least to decorate your whole table!)

Here's my version of the fall dinner plate...

Leaf plate...$3 (Walmart), fall pick...$1 (Jo-Ann's), dinner plate (set of 18)...$15 (Ikea), white distressed charger...$3 (Tai Pan), place mat...$2 (Walmart), for a grand total of $24!

I must say IKEA is the place to go for so many different items, but this was a great find...$15!  And they  have this set in a variety of colors.

Last time Lisa and I were at Tai Pan we saw a beautiful spray tied to the back of a dining room chair.  Unfortunately each one was $20.  As we wandered through the store I found some cute picks for $3 each...and Lisa had the great idea to just use them to tie to my chairs!  I really like how they turned out.

My table is now set for a Thanksgiving feast...oh how yummy it will be!

I will say I still love to receive the Pottery Barn catalog in the mail and find much inspiration from its pages.  Occasionally I even splurge and purchase something I LOVE and know I won't find anywhere else.  You too can get a free catalog in the mail by visiting here.

The Halloween/Fall Decor Sale You've Been Waiting For

Now through October 30, TaiPan is having a 50% off your entire Fall/Halloween purchase.  The coupon came out today (Sunday) in the Deseret News newspaper.  It's a full-page ad on page A7.  I'm not sure if it's also in the Daily Herald.  Find a copy of the paper and head to TaiPan.  We were there on Friday and they still had TONS of great stuff.  (We have one extra coupon for the first person who needs it!)

Porch: An Extension of Your Home

 I have a pretty specific decorating philosophy when it comes to the porch of your home.  The porch is the first impression people have of what your home will be like on the inside.  Thus, it is the perfect spot to say "Welcome".  Each holiday, I change up the porch decor as well as the wreath on the front door.

 Let's start with the black bench.  I bought this at Home Again for $20 and can use it year round.  The basket, metal tray, and rust tin with grapevine sprigs I got at Roberts on clearance.  The rust tin and sprigs were normally $70.  I got them for $15 by waiting for the 75% off end of season clearance sale.  If you want to get the most for your dollar, go to Roberts and see what you like, but wait to buy it when it's on clearance.  They always have loads left.  I bought all of the picks in the basket and the cornucopia from Roberts on sale for 35% off.

 I picked up this darling sign at TaiPan for $7.99.

 I use this grapevine wreath year-round. (Always at Roberts for $6.99 then use 40% off coupon).  I got the wreath stand at Rod Works for around $8.  To make it tie in with fall, I simply added three picks from Roberts. 

 Now for the deal of the week, I found this grapevine pumpkin at Target in the dollar bins for $2.50.  What a steal.  Roberts is selling them starting at $6.99.  I simply paired it with straw balls from Rod Works that I already had.  Grouping things in odd numbers always looks best.

A Sprig of Berries

One of my favorite decor items in my house is my plate rack.  It is a great way to change the look for any season.  I bought these Autumn plates at Taipan for cheap (2.99 a plate).  Mix and match the colors and sizes for a cohesive theme.  This year, I found these berry sprigs at Taipan and thought they would make a great addition.  I bought the sprig for 2.99 and then just cut it apart and placed individual pieces with each plate.  A simple and cheap way to add a little color to the corner of my kitchen.

Teamed with the bench that I found for $75 at Home Again (located in Midvale (801-255-5457), the plate

rack is more of a statement piece.  

I bought the fabric and foam inserts at Hobby Lobby for $20, sewed and stuffed the cover, added $10 pillows from Walmart, and voila. (Will post a little sewing tutorial at a later time.  It is "sew easy".)

Who knew a sprig of berries could bring such a change to plates and a plate rack I've had for several years.
